How to Read a Hotel Cancellation Policy (CXL)
Look for the “CXL” window (Cancellation Deadline)
This tells you how far in advance you need to cancel to avoid a penalty.
Example: “CXL 3DAYS PRIOR TO ARRIVAL” = You must cancel at least 3 days before check-in.

Check the penalty for late cancellation
This shows what happens if you cancel after the deadline.
Example: “CXL FEE FULL STAY-INCL TAX-FEES” = If you cancel late, you’ll be charged for the entire stay, including taxes and fees.

Check for specific penalty conditions
Sometimes the policy outlines different scenarios:
Example: “CXL 3D BEFORE ARVL – PENALTY 1 NT INCL TX” = Cancelling exactly 3 days before = charge for 1 night only, including tax.

Understand the “No Show” policy
This tells you what happens if you don’t cancel and don’t show up.
Example: “NO SHOW 100PCT” = You’ll be charged for 100% of the booking.
